The event starts on Sunday 28 December 2014 at 7 pm (arrivals from 2pm) and ends on Friday 2 January 2015 at 10 pm.

It consists of two main elements:

1.) Bonding & Bounding

Contact improvisation workshop with Daniel Mang, Jasmin Scholle and Fabian Lenze. One evening (Sunday 28 Dec 7 - 10 pm) and five afternoons (Monday 29 Dec - Friday 2 Jan 2 pm - 5 pm).

This workshop will be about listening with your skin; speaking through your body; negotiating boundaries; differentiating qualities of touch; altering the map of the body; creating new meanings for touch, movement, gesture. To this end, we will refine our perception of inner space and body rhythms, as well as our outer sensory/spatial awareness. We will work with the fundamentals of contact improvisation, such as: the relation to gravity, the physical contact between movers, the momentum of bodies; modulating tone, waking up reflexes and sense of balance, sharing weight. We will explore touch and movement as relational practices: bonding and bounding, consent and collaboration, safer spaces and negotiation will be some of our themes. All levels of experience are welcome.

2.) Open Body, Open Space

Five evening sessions curated by Jenny Moy. Monday 29 Dec & Tuesday 30 Dec 7 - 10 pm, Wednesday 31 Dec from 7 pm until the early hours of 2015, Thursday 1 Jan & Friday 2 Jan 7 - 10 pm.

Working with experienced improvisational musicians we will explore how to heighten our awareness of the soundscape we co-create with our dancing. On the first evening, Monday 29th December, there will be an underscore led by David Leahy with a special focus on listening. On the second evening, Jamie McCarthy will share material combining vocal improvisation with movement. On New Years Eve there will be a dancing/drawing jam with Samuel Overington 7 - 9.30 pm, followed by a bring & share meal and a video jam with Tamara Ashley. Music by Jan Lee, Roddy Skeaping and Naomi Green. On 1 January, David will facilitate a "dual underscore" based on his work adapting Nancy Stark Smith's underscore for musicians*. The musicians journey within the space as they improvise together creating a rich landscape for the dancers to inhabit. The final evening is a chance to integrate the experiences of the week with musical support from Jamie McCarthy.
